Deborah Read Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 11 to Mar. 12, 2020.
Along with her twin brother David, Deborah Lynn Read was born on
December 14, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Rex and Donna Oleson
Ellsworth, living on a family farm until the age of three. Following her
mother's marriage to Bill Berner, the family grew with the addition of a
sister, Amy, and two brothers, Clay and Christopher. After several moves
across the country, the family settled in Scottsdale, Arizona where Debbie
graduated from high school before enrolling at what was then called
North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, earning
her Bachelors of Science degree. While working at a resort near Gunnison,
Colorado, Debbie met the love of her life, Randy Read, and the two of them
were married at the First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls, Texas,
on November 24, 1973. Three years later the Reads were blessed by the
addition of a son, Damon, followed by a daughter, Angie. Along the way,
Debbie earned a masters degree from the University of Houston and began
her career as a licensed pharmacist. The family came to the Sugar Land
area in 1989.
Baptized as a child in the Presbyterian Church, Debbie and her family
joined the Christ Church UMC in 2007, where Debbie became well-loved as
the long-time teacher of the women's Precept Bible Studies. After a long
and valiant struggle with cancer, Debbie entered into the Church
Triumphant of all of God's saints on a peaceful Sunday morning, March 8,
2020 from her home where she was in hospice care. Preceded in death by
her parents and her brothers, David Berner and Bobby Ellsworth. Debbie is
survived by her husband of forty-six years, Randy; her son and his wife,
Damon and Savannah Read; her daughter, Angie Jaggers; her four dearly
loved grandchildren, Parker, Easton and Beau Read and Bennett Jaggers,
her step mother, Carol Ellsworth; her sisters, Amy Neal and Jean Ellsworth;
her brothers, Clay and Christopher Berner and Paul and Mike Ellsworth, by
numerous other family members and by a host of friends and fellow lovers
of Jesus, all of whom were touched by Debbie's gift for teaching and her
heart of love and caring.

A family service of burial will be held at the
Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the coming days. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to Christ Church of Sugar Land Bible Studies. Arrangements have been entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
