Delphine (Ellis) Travillion Wilemon was born August 6, 1917, and went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2015, at the age of 98. She was born in Caddo, Okla., to Charles and Delphine (Mugler) Ellis. Delphine lived and worked as a nurse in Caddo and Dallas, Texas, before she retired. She was a member of the Baptist church in Caddo and a longtime member of the East Grand Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Delphine credits her sister, Hardenia Mason, for her love for God. When Hardenia was 12 years old and Delphine was 6 years old, Hardenia would take Delphine to church. Before entering, Hardenia would take Delphine by the shoulders, look her in the eye and say, "Now you act right in here and pay attention." Delphine married Choyce Travillion, and from that marriage, two children were born, Delphine A. and Pushmataha F. Travillion. She later married Joseph A. Wilemon on February 28, 1959, and they were married until his passing in January 1984. On August 26, 2006, Dephine moved to St. Louis, Mo., to the home of her son-in-law, Walt and daughter Delphine Werremeyer. They were absolutely wonderful caregivers and friends. They supplied all Delphine ever needed or wanted. She enjoyed living with her children.
Mrs. Wilemon is survived by her son-in-law, Walt Werremeyer of St. Louis, Missouri; step-daughter, Patsy Blanchard; two nieces and one nephew; many great-nieces and nephews; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wilemon was preceded in death by her son, Pushmataha F. Travillion, who died in an automobile accident when he was 18 years old; daughter Delphine Werremeyer; grandparents; parents, Charles and Delphine Ellis; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorials can be made in honor of Delphine to the Caddo Civic and Cemetery Club P.O. Box 224, Caddo, OK 74729. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, with Randy Butler from the Community Christ Fellowship Church in Ferguson, Mo., officiating.
