I had the honor of working with Derek for a couple years. He was always so fun and happy and made my day brighter. After he left that company we'd stayed in touch and he always made a point to message me funny jokes or poke fun at silly posts from colleagues, or just send encouragement. He was a light and will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Meeting his big smiling face on the sales floor at McAfee. I was Derek´s new hire mentor so I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with him early in his career. The thing that stood out most was how genuine of a person he was. His energy was infectious and his passion for life was well noticed.
Derek is one of the rare people you meet in the world that you will never forget. We will never forget him

Full night of fun in Dallas, riding around in karaoke disco Uber and waking up a McAfee friend at 3am to come out with us.

My first memory was meeting Derek at my townhome in Dallas. He was asleep on the couch and I guess he´d crashed there after a night of drinking. I was making waffles and he said "ooh that smells good." To which I replied "you want some?" Of course he obliged and we sat there, watched football and ate. The rest is history.
