Dewey Reynolds Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2023.
Dewey Malcolm Reynolds, age 91, passed away on June 3, 2023, at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA. He was born on June 2, 1932, in Alabama. Dewey was a family man who loved fishing and spending time with friends. He was a great storyteller who loved an audience and was quick to laugh. He enjoyed pulling friendly pranks and would laugh with everyone else when he became the victim. Dewey was a faithful husband to his wife of 60+ years and was always there for his kids and grandchildren. He had an outstanding work ethic and led by example, which he passed on to his children. There were definitely financial struggles with a young family, but they always enjoyed family camp trips, church activities, and never felt deprived of anything. Dewey battled serious health issues throughout most of his life from a car accident but stoically persevered and had a very successful career in electronic components sales and provided well for his family. He was active in the Church of Christ and raised his family with biblical teachings and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dewey enlisted in the army in 1949 and fought in the Korean War. After three years of service, he later enlisted in the Air Force where he served as a Radio Flight Operator for an additional 11 1/2 years. After a serious car accident that put him in the hospital for almost a year, he retired from the military in October 1968. The same year, he moved his family from California to Vancouver, WA, where Sharon's parents lived. He had lifetime physical challenges from the car accident but held multiple jobs supporting his family and putting himself through college where he earned engineering and sales degrees.

Dewey leaves behind his children Eric Reynolds, Kelli Reynolds & Tracie Farinas, along with his brother Charles McRae, four granddaughters, and a great-grandson due on the Fourth of July. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Reynolds, mother Thelma Gibson, and sister Barbara Cox.

Dewey loved fishing, traveling, watching the stock market, and reading. A Celebration of Life for Dewey and his wife Sharon, who passed away on September 23, 2020, will be held at the 92nd Street Church of Christ located at 4226 92nd St NE, Marysville, WA 98270 on June 17, 2023, at 11:00 am.
