Diane McNeil Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 23 to Jun. 25, 2021.
Diane McNeil

On June 5th, after a 4 year battle with cancer, Diane McNeil known lovingly as Lady Di, transitioned and went home to the loving arms of her Savior and the ancestors. She was at home surrounded by family at the time of her passing.

Diane was a proud graduate of The Cathedral High School of New York, received a Bachelors degree in psychology, from the City University of New York and a Masters degree from Seton Hall University.

She spent 25 years employed by the Teaneck Board of Education primarily as a kindergarten teacher who was beloved by her students and respected by her peers. She embraced the idea of "Once a McNeil kid, Always a McNeil Kid" and always mentored teens and young adults.

In retirement, Diane became a snowbird, spending winters in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She is survived by her brother Richard, son Robert, cousin Hedda and a host of extended family and will be missed by her students.

Services will be held Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at Community Baptist Church located in Englewood, NJ at 11am.

Sending heartfelt condolences to the McNeil family.Although Diane and I grew up on St.Nicholas Terrace our paths didn't cross until she taught my youngest son and my oldest granddaughter. Diane was a dedicated teacher and friend. Her kind spirit and love for those who knew and met her was contagious. Diane Always had something uplifting to say to you even when things were not going well for her. I would always tease her with my husband gave you your first flowers But he gave me the rings. But now you can sing and shout with all the Ancestors in a Joyous Celebration "Free At Last No More Pain"
Rest well dear friend

Blessed are those that mourn for they will be comforted. What a wonderful kind spirited woman of God. She taught my son at Bryant School, and really loved and mentored him. I will always be grateful to her for the love that she had shown all of her students. Thank you for your contributions to the children, and for generations to come. Well done, thy good and faithful servant!
