Diane Schaefer Obituary
To her family and friends she will always be remembered as "The Avon Lady". Since she joined Avon in 1981 she has received 30+ awards for Sales and Leadership, including many all expense paid trips to Las Vegas and Jamaica.
In addition to her career with Avon, she and her husband worked for 20+ years for the Express News as a newspaper carrier. Even with two jobs she still found the time to also work on her favorite hobby, adding to her doll collection.
Diane is preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Ott Kolb and by her parents Benhard and Elvira Ott. Ben and Elvira moved their grocery store in Universal City around 1957 before the City was incorporated. They opened Ott's Bar-B-Que in 1971 which closed its doors early 2000's.
Diane is survived by three (3) siblings: One sister Bernardine Robinson and her husband Johnie of San Angelo, TX; two brothers Bernie Ott and his wife Mae of Floresville, TX; and Charles Ott of Universal City; aunt Angela Jandt of Seguin, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A rosary will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home on 625 Kitty Hawk Rd in Universal City on Thursday, July 21st at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX at 10:00 am on Friday, July 22nd. Procession to Selma Cemetery #1 immediately following.

My sympathy to Don, Charlie and family. It has been many years since I enjoyed the many antics at Ott's BB-ques! I had left Universal City circa 1989, and while I was working in the casinos in Vegas; one day I looked up from the dice table and see Diane and Don! It was one of the most surprisingly unexpected reunion. Don and Diane had no idea I was working in Vegas.

Aunt Diane, we miss you so much. This world will never be the same without you. I am blessed to have had the time we did. I know I told you over and over that last day that I love you, I meant very word.
To the rest of our family and Aunt Diane's friends...this still doesn't feel real. I am so sorry you all are having to go thru this. Thank you all so much for loving her. These past few days I have witnessed that love. She was truly blessed.
