Dilys May Maloney May 1, 1926 August 12, 2009 It is with profound sadness the family of Dilys May Maloney announces her passing. She is survived by her son, Jim (Carol) Maloney; daughters, Gail O'Connell and Peggy (Ken) Jodrey; grandchildren, Kerri O'Connell, Robert and Mitchell Basiove; and great grandson, William O'Connell. She is also survived by brothers, Gordon (Lenore) Jones, and Art (Jill) Jones; sisters, Betty (Charlie) Fairweather, Joy Schafer, Pearl Fairweather, and Ethel Jones; sister-in-law, Elsie Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Dan and Lydia Jones; brother, Newton Jones, sister, Ruby Baran; sister-inlaw, Mildred Jones; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Schafer, Nick Baran, and Len Fairweather. Dilys was born in Bangor, Saskatchewan on the family farm to Dan and Lydia Jones. The family moved to Saskatoon where she resided until her passing. On September 18, 1944, at the age of 18 years, she joined the military and serviced her country until the war ended and she was discharged on September 3, 1946. She worked in the Chemistry Stores in the Thorvaldsen building at the University of Saskatchewan until she retired in 1991. Dilys was an avid curler and bowler, where she won many trophies. She enjoyed spending her summers at Emma Lake with her children and then later with her grandchildren. She also had a great love for music and dancing. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Veterans Village at Sherbrooke Community Centre for the wonderful care and love given to Dilys until she passed away. The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sherbrooke Community Chapel, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Veterans Village, Sherbrooke Foundation Inc., 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK, S7H 2E7. Email condolences to the family may be sent through [email protected]. Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach.

I was sorry to hear of the passing of DILYS. We were colleagues for many years in the Chemistry department. Every one in the Department knew DILYS.

I was sorry to hear of Dilys's passing. I worked with her in the Thorvalson Bldg., and enjoyed working with her.
