Dixon Lee Hayes BRUNSON, SC - Dixon Lee Hayes, died at his home in Hampton County, SC, October 31, 2011. Funeral services will be held 1:00P.M. Graveside, Friday November 4, 2011 in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, SC. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 prior to the service at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, SC. Mr. Hayes was born March 30, 1935 in Dillon, SC, the son of the late Thelma Harrellson and Harrison Phillip Hayes. He had retired as a salesman and became a self-employed private investigator. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a graduate of Dillon High School and Newberry College. He served in The U. S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Randolph and was a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans Rivers Bridge Camp #842. Mr. Hayes is survived by his two sons, Darrin Lee (Sherri Thompson) of Hartsville, SC, and Vic C. (Ann) of Chester, SC; sister, Patricia Ann Wilkinson of Myrtle Beach, SC; his half-sister, Susan Hayes (Dean) Suttleworth of Dillon, SC; two half-brothers, Phil Hayes, and Michael (Michelle) Hayes of Florence, SC. He has three grandchildren: Darrin Lee Hayes, Jr., US Navy stationed at Dam Neck, VA, Catherynn Elizabeth Hayes, and Victoria Ann Hayes, both of Chester, SC; also surviving is the mother of his children, Ann W. Graham, of Hartsville, SC. He was predeceased by one sister, Faye H. Cromer of Sumter, SC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 711 Allendale-Fairfax Highway, Fairfax, SC, 29827. You may sign the guestbook at www.kannadayfuneralhome.com.

My husband has very fond memories of Dixon. Their friendship began at Newberry College. They were roommates during their college years and could each tell some tall tales about each other.

We extend our sympathy to Dixon's family. We are truly sorry for your loss.
