Donald John Chubbuck, age 87, of Eagles Mere, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at the Memorial Hospital, Towanda, Pa.

Don was born in Towanda, Pa., on Feb. 23, 1926, a son of the late Lee Thurston Chubbuck and Bessie Michael Chubbuck. He graduated from Towanda High School. Don served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he graduated from Mansfield State Teacher's College, now Mansfield University. He later took continuing education at Bucknell University.

Don began teaching mathematics at the Loyalsock Joint High School in Estella in 1952, and then finished his career after the jointure at the Sullivan County High School in Laporte, Pa.

Don enjoyed traveling and accompanied the Shoemaker family on numerous family vacations. He also traveled extensively across the U.S. southwest. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books and other items of interest during his retirement.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Chubbuck of Towanda, and two sisters, Doris Maier of Center Moriches, NY.,. and Grace Scheithauer of Towanda, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa. Interment will be in the Monroeton Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
