Donald Stanton Daly
Stan died peacefully in his sleep August 16 2017. He was born in Boise, Idaho on May 27 1930 to Don and Mabel Daly.
Stan grew up in Boise, attended Boise High School, and Boise Junior College, played trumpet in the dance band, and was an early pioneer at Bogus Basin. He did his time in the Navy during the Korean War and participated in the evacuation of Over 100,000 UN forces and civilians at Hungnam.
On his return from then navy, he married Dorothy L. Tietjens, and had two children, Michael and Barbara.
He was employed by MK, working at Lucky Peak Dam, Portsmouth Naval Base, Brownlee Dam, and Oxbow Dam. In 1959 he left MK and moved back to Boise. He then started his new career working for his father at Daly & Co. Stock Brokerage.
Stan was active in many local organizations, Including the J C's and other nonprofits. He was also a Charter Member of Crane Creek Country Club where he actually operated a bulldozer to help prepare the land for construction. He was especially proud of his position as the first director of the Greater Boise Auditorium District, This resulted in his being a key figure the design and construction of the Boise Convention Center. In 1978 he started Stan's Golf Cars which he operated with his son until his death.
Preceding him in death are his parents Donald Frances Daly, Mabel Daly, and his first wife Dorothy. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Janeen, brother Ron, sister Pat Wade, son Michael, daughter Barbara, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. And his step children, Nick, Shawna, and Kurtis Koontz. His broad smile and boisterous laughter will be missed by all.
A graveside service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery, on August 24,, at 10 AM.
