Donald Ladouceur Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2024.
Donald James Ladouceur, known as Donnie, DJ, or Don, passed away on July 19, 2024, at the age of 58 in La Plata, Maryland. Born on March 24, 1966, in Hayward, California, he lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and deep family bonds.

Don served with distinction in the Navy for 21 years, retiring as a Senior Chief in 2007. His military career was characterized by steadfast leadership and commitment to his fellow sailors. Following his retirement from the Navy, he transitioned to a career in logistics for a government contracting company, where he continued to apply his skills and discipline.

Don was a man who cherished his family above all. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine; his wife, Brooke; his children, Mathieu (m. Lauren) and Ashlee; step-daughters, Katelyn (m. Ben) and Selena; and his grandchildren, Levi, Benjamin, and Paisley. He also leaves behind his siblings Marc, Donna, Emily, Lindsey, Patrick, and Martin, as well as his niece and nephews, Marcus and Michelle. His step-father, Bill "Papo", father, Donald, and sister, Audrey, preceded him in death. Don's family also included his beloved grandpups, Maya, Cowboy, Reno, Toby, and PawPaw, with Bella having preceded him.

Known for his quick wit and ability to keep everyone on their toes, Don was the quintessential "bullshitter," always ready with a joke or a clever remark. His sense of humor brought laughter and lightness to those around him. In his leisure time, Don enjoyed attending Tool concerts, a recent joy he shared with his daughter who accompanied him to shows in his final years.

A private family service will be held to honor Don's life and legacy. A subsequent service will be organized at Arlington National Cemetery, where friends and extended family will have the opportunity to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memories of Donald be shared, preserving his spirit and stories for future generations.

As Lad's friend and supervisor, I'll remember fondly the occasion one of our customers decided the team needed a sign-in/out board in the common area of our office spaces... to better keep track of our comings and goings. By lunchtime on day one, the board found its way to my desk, and never saw the light of day again. When I questioned the team on the board's removal, Lad was only one to plead the 5th, as if I didn't already know... Fly high Laddie. sr

My deepest condolences to the Ladouceur family. I had the pleasure of serving alongside Don in Pax River at VX-1. Always ready to help and guide when called upon. A consummate professional and great mentor. He will be missed but not forgotten.
