Donald Sinclair Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Apr. 13, 2011.

SINCLAIR, Dr. Donald Allan December 26, 1922 - April 7, 2011Don passed away peacefully at the home he built, surrounded by those he loved. Born in Calgary, Alberta to Burt and Ted Sinclair and predeceased by his brother Bruce. Remembered and survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathleen Woodsworth Rose, children Bob (Susan), Joani (Randy), Carol-Anne (Walfre), grandchildren Christopher, Carolina (Mauricio), Sarah, Tracy, Andrew, Christy and extended family. Don grew up in Vancouver, graduated from Prince of Wales Secondary and attended both the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto, where, in 1947, he graduated in Dentistry. In 1960, he moved his family to the Lower Mainland from Trail, BC and settled in Tsawwassen in 1962. Throughout his professional years, Don was involved with the family business, BC Dental Supply. He practiced dentistry in Vancouver, Trail, Squamish and Richmond, BC where he remained until his retirement in 1989. Don was an extremely active and hard-working man. He cherished the time spent on his endless list of projects around his offices and homes, especially Christina Lake, where he gave his family countless wonderful memories. Always enlisting the help of his children and grandchildren, Don taught the value of hard-work and instilled a strong sense of family values. He enjoyed water and snow skiing, tennis and could be found riding his bike through Palm Desert up to the month before he died. His legacy will be carried on for years to come. This wonderful man will be sorely missed and remembered with sincere admiration. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don's life at the family home on Wednesday, April 20th, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Delta Hospice Society Box 19036, Delta, BC V4L 2P8. On-line condolences may be placed at www.deltafuneral.ca Delta Funeral Home (604) 946-6040

Dear Kay and family,
When we were told of Don's passing this quote came to mind and the author is unknown, when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure! Yes, Bill and I will treasure the memories since it was 20 years ago we met as neighbors at The Courtyards. We consider you our extended family and had many fun times over the years. With our heartfelt sympathy,

We were very saddened to hear of Don's passing.

Upon our arrival in Palm Desert he was one of the first people we met. He was not only a great neighbour but became a wonderful friend as well.

Joining him for a bike ride was always an enjoyable experience with exercise combined with a spirited discussion always the goal.

Our heartfelt condolences to you Kay and all your family.

Our deepest sympathy to all Don's family.
Our first memory of Don was of him visiting us on his bike in Palm Desert and we shared many enjoyable times with him over the next 10 years.
Although we will not be able to join you in a Celebration of Don's Life our thought will be with you all.

Don had a very pragmatic view of the world. He was always interested in local issues from dental to political and business. I will miss his wry sense of humor and inquisitive mind. My sympathy to Kay and the family- you will miss him.
