Donna Barnett passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 12th, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on September 18th, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Donna lived in many wonderful and exotic places around the world as a young girl while stationed with her family in the United States Air Force before calling Texas home.
Donna was a Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, who defined the meaning of generosity and concern for everyone around her. She was MeMe … she was the heart & soul of a large and loving family.
After a long, successful career, Donna retired to focus her attention full time on her family. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her best friend and soulmate, David– back to her childhood home of Guam, to Paris, London, Amsterdam, Cairo, Rio de Janeiro and too many other places to list.
She was a beautiful person - a beautiful soul - and will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She touched so many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love.
Whether it was on a Sunday Funday, during a holiday gathering, on a text message or call, Donna brought so much joy and happiness - and these moments meant so much to her. She found joy in making those around her smile and even more joy if you laughed out loud. Her sense of humor made life fun and her sense of family made life precious.
She leaves behind her husband David, daughters Merissa (Scott) Engledowl, Chanda (Craig) Mooneyham six precious grandchildren: Shelby Azar, Andrew Stover, Tori Mooneyham, Kaylie Mooneyham, Nathan Mooneyham and Austen Reaves, 4 cherished great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur & Faye Carmical and her brother Rick Carmical.

Mother’s Day is coming up mom. I miss you so much everyday. One, thing that people are not taught is how to live without you mom. My life has not been the same without you. I am truly struggling and don’t trust. I love you with my entire heart always and forever. My heart is broken and there is a mom space that is forever empty. I will see you again.

I met Donna when I was 13. Merissa and I were besties and I practically lived at their house. She was the young, cool mom, but not too cool. She still ran a pretty tight ship, but she was very stylish and there were multiple times I recall the neighborhood boys honking and whistling as they drove by because they had mistaken her for Merissa from a distance. You should have seen the red faces when they got close enough to realize their mistake.
Later, while in high school my family had decided to move during my senior year. I was devastated at the thought of not being able to graduate with my friends and it was Donna that said I could use her address to continue my senior year with my friends. I will never forget that. I also remember her and her mother fixing up the cute nursery when Merissa was expecting Shelby. They did a beautiful job and that was way before Pinterest and HGTV. Every time I see a post on Facebook about the value of vintage goose kitchen decor I think of Donna and her kitchen decked out in geese and blue bows back in the day. I grew up and moved around and lost touch with her until Facebook and then I got to see her again in pictures and posts enjoying her family and her life. I will miss that. I am really sad I never got to see her again in person. She has left us way too soon. I know she will be missed and remembered by many. Please accept my heart felt condolences .
