Donna Kovach Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 6, 2016.
Donna Rose Kovach, 66, of Brewster, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
She was born to Loretta and Donald Callaway, June 12, 1950, in Orange, New Jersey. Donna graduated from the NJ School for the Deaf in 1968. Donna was crowned Miss Deaf New Jersey in 1971 and presided until 1973. She married Karl Kovach in 1972, and they lived together first in Bloomfield, NJ and then Towaco, NJ, before retiring to Brewster in 2010.

Donna was a teacher's aid at Lake Drive School (Mountain Lakes, NJ) and cared deeply about making a difference in the lives of her students. She and her husband Karl were active members of the Cape Cod Model A Club & the AACA and enjoyed traveling to antique car shows around the country to compete with their 1931 Model A Ford.

Donna loved the beach and had fun going to craft shows. She was an active crafter herself making beautiful gifts for family and friends. Donna had a loving and generous spirit always seeing the good in others. She willingly gave of herself and was beloved by all who knew her.
Donna is survived by her husband, Karl, and two children, Dave and Karla, both of New York City. She is also survived by her mother, Loretta Callaway and sister, Laura Donnelly.

A viewing will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Sunday July 10 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in South Dennis. There will be a short service on Monday July 11 at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at the Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Donations can be made in Donna's name to Maya's Hope.

I am so very sorry to hear of Donna's passing. She was such a sweet, light hearted, and caring person. While working with her at Lake Drive School, she shared her talents, patience, caring nature and especially her humor. The older students welcomed a chat with Donna as a wonderful role model. The younger students loved her smile and open heart. The staff appreciated her insights, laughter and especially her acting talents in our school's plays. She will be sadly missed.

Bereavement is so personal that both of us, unless we have experienced it ourselves can comprehend its grief. Donna was loved by us who are friends with her. Her pleasant vitality was a continuous inspiration. We hope that our caring will lessen the sorrow you bear.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Donna's passing. I worked with her for many years at Lake Drive School. She was very loved by the students and staff. She was also a very important part of the St.Peter the Apostle Deaf Ministry with myself and others. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and Liturgical Reader. She also helped to prepare many Deaf children to receive their sacraments in the Catholic Church. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.
