BLUEFIELD, Va. — Doris “Dokie” Ann Holiway Money (formerly Haun), of 121 Brandon Drive in Bluefield, Va., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in Welch, W.Va.Born Oct. 6, 1952 in Bluefield, W.Va, to the late Julian E. Holiway and Frances Rouse Holiway. She graduated from Bluefield High School and West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. She then moved into McDowell County, where she resided for over 20 years, initially co-owning and operating King Pharmacy in Welch. She later was employed as a pharmacist for Super X, Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, and CVS pharmacies.Doris was a devoted member of her community. Her concern for others prompted her to become involved in lobbying for, organizing, and supporting various organizations which strove to educate and provide for all those in need. She once served on the McDowell County Board of Education, repeatedly assisted with fundraisers and collections held by Toys for Tots, was the McDowell County organizer for Shoeboxes of Love. She both assisted with and became a leader for Girl Scout Troop 2502 (assisting with other troops’ activities, as well), was a mentor for Voices of Girls, assisted and organized numerous church fundraisers and community events, gave speeches at local schools to educate children of the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and took part in many other charity activities which she hoped would benefit the lives of all those around her.Doris knew a great passion for the Lord, and sought to share His love with others through testimony and song. She was an accomplished vocalist and speaker who provided congregations and the community with delightful songs of praise and words of inspiration. For a period of time, she and a close friend hosted their own radio program, “Christmas Everyday,” on WELC as a means to share God’s Word through both song and praise. Doris later returned to school to become a pastor in the Methodist Church, and came to hold regular services at the Boyd’s Chapel, Jenkinjones, and Anawalt churches, of McDowell County. Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Frances Rouse Holiway, of Brushfork, W.Va.; her sister, Karen Holiway Turner and husband Joe, of Bluefield, Va.; Doris’ husband Kenneth Money, of Bluefield, Va.; her four children--her daughter Crystal Haun and her companion Joey R., of New Orleans, La.; her daughter Tabitha Haun, currently attending WVU School of Dentistry, and her companion Michael Justice, currently attending WVU; her daughter Amber Anderson, her husband Jason, and their expected daughter Hailey, of Glenville, W.Va.; and her son J.T.
