DOROTHY RIDDER
ALTON — Dorothy G. Ridder, 75, died at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 at her residence.
She was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Alton, the daughter of the late John D. and Emma M. (Schreier) Ull.
A graduate of Alton High School and Southern Illinois University, she worked in the Alton School District No. 11. Dorothy was a member of P.E.O. Chapter JZ, Alton Area Service League, and Illinois Retired Teacher Association, and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she worked on many committees and was recognized as Woman of Distinction. She had a love and appreciation for antiques.
On June 18, 1966, in Alton, she married Frank R. Ridder, and he survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Blythe Ridder Schaberg (Tim) of Dunlap, Illlinois, two grandchildren, Jack Nicholas and Madison Jayne Schaberg. She considered her greatest achievements in life were her marriage, her role as mother and grandmother, her association with wonderful friends, and her walk with God.
She was preceded in death by one son, John Ridder on Sept. 11, 2002.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park with Reverend Tim Pate officiating.
A lover of animals, she felt the need to find good homes for stray cats and dogs. Memorials may be made to the 5A's Animal Shelter or Main Street United Methodist Church.
