Dorothy B. (Core) Templeton died in Tallahassee, Florida, on January 26, 2013, at 92 years of age. Dorothy was born on December 17, 1920, to Mary (Nona) Shawver Core and Blaine Core in Pleasantville, Iowa. Dorothy lived the first eighty-eight years of her life in Marion County, Iowa.

On February 13, 1943, Dorothy married Hugh Templeton. The couple had five children: Jane Gibb (and late husband Bill) of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Martha Wright of Tallahassee, Florida; Joe Templeton (and wife Claudia) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Alice Burke (and husband John) of Lansing, Iowa; Mark Templeton (and wife Pam) of Indianapolis, Indiana. Dorothy's husband Hugh died in 1989.

There are also eleven grandchildren: Carolina (and David) Schultz of Medford, Oregon; John (and Lisa) Gibb of Vienna, Virginia.; Michael Wright of Knoxville, Iowa; Renee (and Emerson) Thompson of Tallahassee, Florida; Angela Dunkin (and Jon Paul Thomas) of New Albin, Iowa; Nathan (and Crystal) Dunkin of Campo, California; Ruth Carr of Los Alamitos, California; John (and Molly Anne) Templeton of Bergen, Norway; Paul (and Sarah Wise) Templeton of San Mateo, California; Ross (and Rebecca) Templeton of West Lebanon, New Hampshire and Chelsea Templeton of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dorothy also had great grandchildren she loved and enjoyed: Shawn, Christopher, Bill, Stewart, Kiara, Symone, James, Madeleine, Huxley, Wyatt, Willis, Nolen, Chloe and Josiah.

Dorothy was preceded in death by four siblings: Elizabeth Core Kelso, Willis Core, Reuben Core and Donald Core. She is survived by three siblings: Jessie Heaberlin of Pleasantville, Iowa; Lyle Core of Indianola, Iowa; and Maurice (and Carole) Core of Columbus, Ohio as well as sister-in-law Phyllis Stone Core. Numerous nieces and nephews had very close bonds with Dorothy and, over the years, she had many friends both old and new.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Dorothy's name may be given to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation or to the Marion County Habitat for Humanity or The Heifer Project.

A memorial service thanking God for Dorothy's life will be held on April 19 at 2 P.M. at the Knoxville First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Bybee and Davis Funeral Home.
