I played tennis with Doug at the Pleasant Valley Country Club when we were teenagers. I remember him as a cheerful and lively boy with curly blond hair. He was great fun to be around. Even after he was blinded in one eye, he was still a lively loving person. As the obituary said, he did not let adversity get in the way of living his life.

Doug was one of the greater souls I knew. Always wanting to learn more, improve, and the first to offer a genuine compliment. I have a lot of great memories with Doug, and will miss our calls every couple of months.

I knew Doug was a great guy when I met him because he had the best first name!! Doug was one of the first guys I met when we moved to Little Rock in 1974. We grew up together went to Central High together and shared some great friends. I always loved seeing him at our high school reunions. Over the last few years we only lived a few hours away which brought our friendship back and closer. He was a great gentleman and I think about him all the time. I´m so glad he came to visit in St Pete and we both traveled to Little Rock for our 40th High School reunion. Rest in peace my friend . Doug Homeyer

I adored Doug & am so saddenned by his passing.
His obituary is wonderful & it's huge & impressive the kind words all true, said about him. I was awed to learn Doug won the 2020 Tennis award and also, that they renamed the tennis courts in his honor! One thing I deeply admired about Doug, was his love of his dog(s).
I sent a donation to the "Pet Alliance Leaque" in lieu of flowers in his honor. Apparently, all 3 he owned - even 2 that already crossed the Rainbow Bridge were included in the obit/tribute, & that was so touching, powerful & deep. I am so sorry he has passed away. He was a tremendously loved light in so many lives. Deepest Condolances to all his family & loved ones

Doug and I go back to the late 80´s. We were the same age. A lot in common. He was a kind soul , however I will miss his slightly devious sense of humor as well. We were fantasy football comrades for a long , long time. Rest In Peace my friend. Andrew Meadors.

I met Doug at the USTA in a tennis class for advanced players, I liked him right away and it didn´t take long for me to get to know him as a person, after I began coaching Doug privately and then I got to know him as a friend, he was a "Class Act" all the way, he loved all sports, knew them as well as anyone, loved his family, and was fantastic in his line of work. On June 19th we had our last session and he told me of some heart issues that the doctors were looking into, when I didn´t see him at the July 4th mixer I worried, then Ben Z sent me the email that he passed, such sad news. I won´t forget Doug and our many talks and times together. RIP Special Man

I worked remotely with Doug for the past 7-8 years and he always answered the phone, was a hard worker, was thoughtful, diligent, upright and honest. That's hard to find these days in the corporate world. It was a pleasure working with him. He strived to do right by his company and worked hard to bring energy efficiency measures and renewable solar power to the homeowner associations he worked with, year after year. Doug was also a patient man, kind, loved to walk his dogs, invest in the stock market, and kept up to date on the news and trends of this World. I enjoyed his calls and speaking with him almost daily for years. You were a great presence on this Earth Doug! I'm grateful for you. May you enjoy additional peace in Heaven, where you surely have gone. Your friend,
Sushanto S.

I always called Doug "the nicest man on the planet" because he was always so helpful and kind. I never felt like I was bothering him and he clearly felt it was his job to support those in the field. Those of us in the field really appreciate that! I didn´t know Doug well but he always said hi to me when I saw him once or twice a year, and always remembered what was happening with my resort. He will be truly missed.

The world has lost a kind and gentle soul who was quick with a smile, offering words of encouragement and guidance. Doug will be missed on the Tennis Court, in the corporate office, and spending time with friends. May God embrace Doug as He is welcomed into his everlasting reward in Heaven joining his mother and other family members. May Doug rest in peace and love for all eternity.
