Saying that 'final goodbye' is so impossibly difficult. The 'firsts' will be so difficult for family, friends & those that knew him which my heart aches for them. Deepest of condolences. He is deeply missed. Such as... I want to wish Doug 'Happy Birthday', although he was born on 2/29, which he told me he shares with his mother. A rarity - which Doug is. I was given the honor to wish him last year [a leap year] a 'Happy Birthday'.

Happy birthday Doug. Your light is missed. ...everyday...

Doug and I were part of the Houston Area Molecular Biophysics Program (HAMBP) during graduate school. Doug was as kind as he was insightful, and I always hoped we might find a way to work together again one day. I am deeply saddened that I will not have that opportunity. When we worked together, Doug talked a lot about his family and how much he loved them. I wish his family peace in this time of grief. Doug's life was meaningful, he made a positive impact on the lives of others, and he will not be forgotten.

I love all of our dinners and late night conversations at Doug and Jess's house. Doug and I could sit and talk about music forever, it was a conversation that was never over. One night Doug and I were in the living room, Jess was in the other room doing something, and we were talking about music (as always). Doug loves bluesy electric guitar soulful jam music. One of his favorite musicians is Stevie Ray Vaughn. So I asked him what his favorite song of his was. And from the other room Jess yells out "Lenny"! I turn her direction and say "what? what was that?" She pokes her head in to repeat "Lenny". I reply "OK? why do you know that?" She told me that during her last year of medical school she would be studying or whatever at night and Doug would be trying to figure out how to play "Lenny". Emphasis on "trying to figure it out" for a year. So yeah, she's heard that song a million times. I turn to Doug and he confirms that story with a smile and a nod.
Sometime soon, whoever reads this, play the song "Lenny" by Stevie Ray Vaugn.
I love y'all and I will forever miss Doug.

Doug was very close with my brother, Chris Robinson, and he felt like a brother to me as well. I´ll always remember how his big smile would light up the room. We´re heartbroken, but we will cherish those moments and hold them close to our hearts. Praying for you and your family.

I hear your laugh when I´m sad, and that warms my heart like a hug Doug.
...Someday far off in the future; you´ll be well studied in the stars & can show me around. Doesn´t really matter where we are; as we are always together.

Love you forever

I met doug here in Colorado only a few months ago at a gun range and his knowledge of guns was impressive. He approached me asking about my guns and within a few sentences we realized we were both from texas and both owned suppressors. We exchanged numbers and went to the range a few more times and also went hiking before his passing. He was a great guy with a great attitude. You'll be misssed, Doug.

Our family has many great memories of Doug. Doug and my son Chris met in middle school and became the best of friends. Not long after, Dougs´ family became like a second family to Chris. I remember Doug as always happy and outgoing. He was a great role model for my son and influenced him into playing soccer. He then helped Chris to make the high school soccer team. One of my fondest memories of Doug was his love for his grandma. She would occasionally pick him up from my house and he would greet her with so much respect and sweetness. Witnessing that love he showed for her touched my heart deeply. He truly had a great love for his family and it showed. Even as a grown man Doug would still greet us with that same Douglas smile. His polite and respectful character never changed. He will truly be missed and our family will hold his memory forever in our hearts. Our deepest condolences and continued prayers go out to all of the Litwin family. May God spread his loving arms around you all. Doug was a gem a of human being. I´m lucky to have called him a friend. Our lives went different ways after college, and we lost touch. I ran into him at Hobby airport last year; we were both on the same flight to St. Louis. We talked the whole fligh: we reminisced about the old days, shared stories about our new lives, and made plans to meet up again. I´m heartbroken that we won´t get to do that. I send my condolences to his wife, kids, the entire Litwin family, and anyone who knew him and is equally devastated by the news .

I met Doug in 2007-during a very hard time in my life. I got close to him and his friend Eric very quickly. Both amazing guys. Doug helped me through a lot at a very difficult time. He was brilliant. It´s been years since we´ve spoken, and I wish that wasn´t so. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
