Douglas James Schenk, 67 of Little River, SC passed away Tuesday evening April 30th, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida following a difficult battle with colon cancer.

Doug was born April 17, 1952 in Holly, Michigan to Edwin and Mary Schenk. He graduated from Holly High School in 1970 and went on to obtain a BS of Industrial Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan and his Masters in Industrial Administration from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Doug was a 31 year employee at John Deere where he spent the last 7 years as President of Deere's China Operations in Beijing, China. He spent the last 3 years of his career as the CEO of Fiat Group China. Doug met his current wife Tiger in China and they were married in Michigan in 2001 and continued to enjoy a close relationship with Tiger's family.

Doug retired and moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2010 where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid skier and enjoyed spending holidays and spring breaks in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife Tiger, his sons Brent (Jessica) Schenk, Reid (Jessie) Schenk, and Logan Schenk, as well as his sister Ellen Schenk, brothers David (Joann) Schenk and Robert Schenk, and 6 grandchildren Thomas, Oliver, Eleanor, Audrey, Kaylee and the last (but not least) expected in July.

The family will receive friends at the Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC from 11am to 4pm with a celebration of life service at 4:00pm on Thursday May 9th, 2019, with Pastor Daryle Bush officiating.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Doug Schenk's name.
