Dr. Rakesh Anand, MD, age 73, of Fairfield, Connecticut passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024 surrounded by beloved family and friends. Rakesh was born in Doraha, India on March 29, 1951, the youngest of six children to Ram Lal Anand and Vidya Vati Anand.

Rakesh met his wife, Nalini, while attending the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. They graduated and were married in 1974, shortly before moving to New York City. He dedicated his life to serving others through medicine, compassion, and unwavering support. His patients and colleagues admired him for his expertise, gentle nature, and dedication to their well-being.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Anand's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving husband to his wife Nalini for 50 years, a proud father to Neil & Sonia, and father-in-law to Brian. He was an adoring grandfather to Colin and Sean, who cherished every moment spent with their "Nana". Dr. Anand's legacy of love and service will live on in the lives he touched. He leaves behind a community that will deeply miss his presence but will forever carry his memory.

Rakesh was known for his warmth, vibrant sense of humor, intellect and the profound care he extended to everyone around him. In his presence, it was impossible not to smile. Thank you for your love and support during this incredibly difficult time.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Nalini Anand, MD, son Neil Anand, daughter Sonia Anand Cullinane, son-in-law Brian Cullinane, grandsons Colin (3) and Sean (1) Cullinane, brother Vijay Anand (Sadhna), sisters Usha Dhir (Virinder), Geeta Sawhney (Harbans), Rita Anand, sister-in-law Hannelore Anand, mother-in-law Sarla Nayyar, brother-in-law Sanjeev Nayyar (Seema), sisters-in-law Shubhlata Arora (Anil), Shobhna Caplash (Pradeep), Sunita Sood (Ram), Suman Batra (Atul) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Ram Lal Anand and Vidya Vati and his beloved brother, Prem Anand.

A public ceremony of remembrance will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road in Fairfield. My condolences to the family, he was an excellent doctor. Have been going to their office for years, Both Dr and Mrs/Dr Anand and office staff are excellent, He will be missed may he rest in. Peace!!!!
