Large heart felt condolences go out to the Valliant-Saunders families at your time of loss. I didn't personally know Duncan as he was younger than myself and my cohorts, but I do remember his presence at Canterbury High. A great guy will be missed by many of those he touched and loved.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Duncan's passing. He was one of my dearest and best childhood friends. Although we had gone separate paths in the last decade and a half, I will always fondly remember the times we had, growing up together; the good and bad, the laughs, the mischief, and the camaraderie. He had such a big heart and capacity for joy. I can't recall seeing him really down. He was always there for his friends, and made you feel better to be near him. It was tremendous fun to goof off just to make him laugh. Because his laugh would always make me laugh. Invariably it would end with two kids in the hallway, laughing hysterically, for no apparent reason. The stupidest, silliest stuff amused us to no end - even if, at times, it amused few others. Duncan stars in many of my fondest (and certainly funniest) childhood memories.
Without him, being a kid would have been a lot less fun. He was taken far too early. May he rest in peace.

My dear friend Duncan I still am shock that you are no longer with us and it's truly sad that I won't be able to see you again but knowing that you are at peace and in a better place.
We spoke a few months ago and I am grateful I was able to hear your laughter again.
I miss you amigo!

When Duncan greeted you with "Hey......" you felt like a big joyful pooch had jumped up, put his paws on your shoulders, and licked your beaming face.

I knew you when we were young and our lives were not yet mapped out ahead of us. Our days were full of friends, laughter, music and love. We all had each other and held on steadfast. I don't know many people who held on to "old high school friends" as much as the kids did from Canterbury high school. It changed us forever. We had to leave our youth and start our lives as independents. You were struck with an illness that would never let you live as you deserved to live. It saddens the world that your choices were too limited. My heart goes out to all my friends and the many people whose lives were touched by Duncan. For those of you who are mourning the loss of Duncan Valliant-Saunders, let's keep each other in our thoughts and remember him. May he rest in peace.

I remember Duncan's quick wit and big smile in Canterbury - in particular in English class when he had me giggling about something or other. I'm so sorry to hear about his passing and about his struggles with this illness..my sincerest condolences to his family
