Earl Augspurger Obituary
Earl was born on March 19, 1936 in Oskaloosa, IA to Earl Sr. and Mildred (Hoelzel)) Augspurger. He graduated high school in Bloomfield, IA in 1953 and attended Iowa State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1957. He met his wife, Marcia Potter from Winterset, IA at Iowa State, and they married in Winterset on June 15, 1958.
Earl joined the U.S. Air Force through a ROTC commission serving three years in High Wycombe, England. In 1961, he and Marcia returned to the U.S., began their family and Earl's career with AT&T. He pursued a second degree at the University of Iowa, graduating in 1976 with a Doctorate of Dental Science and Master of Science Degrees in Orthodontia. Earl started his orthodontic practice in Sioux City, IA which continued until 1996. They opened other orthodontic practices in LeMars, IA, Wayne, NE, Norfolk, NE and Colorado Springs, CO before retiring to Sun City West, AZ in 2001. In February 2014. Earl moved to Surprise, AZ care facilities for health reasons.
Earl lived a full life filled with many family and friends' love for him. He was active in various activities and organizations, had a passion for life and a deep Christian faith in God.
His wife passed away in 2011. Survivors include his daughter, Annie (Bill) Bomgaars of Colorado Springs, CO; his son, Dr. John Augspurger of Denver, CO; three granddaughters, Holly (Wyatt) Bomgaars-Roldan of Dallas, TX, Dana Bomgaars of Waco, TX and Mackenzie Augspurger of Scottsdale, AZ. He also is survived by his sisters, Deanna (David) Dorsett of Fair Oaks, CA and Ruth (Cleve) Corlett of Arlington, VA.
Earl chose donation of his body for medical science research to give the gift of life for future generations. After cremation, the family will have a private ceremony in Colorado for both Earl and Marcia.
