Earl BERGMAN Obituary

BERGMAN, Earl Earl Bergman, born February 2, 1928 of Erskine, Alberta, passed away suddenly on October 28, 2002, due to complications after heart surgery at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Earl lived all of his life in the Erskine area and was an accomplished rancher and farmer. He was a founding member of the Alberta Limousin and Maine Anjou Associations. For many years he operated oil and gas wells in the Stettler - Clive area and in Saskatchewan. A highlight of Earl's oilfield career was that he successfully capped two well blowouts alone. Earl's passion was aircraft, flying and travel. He obtained his pilot's license at 18 years of age. He flew with the Farmers and Ranchers Flying Club to Alaska and into the Arctic Circle. All of his life he traveled the world and he made many wonderful trips with his wife Gloria. He attended Oshkosh Air Show for many years and always came back invigorated and inspired. Earl's strong Christian faith was passed on through to his family and in addition he provided for a scholarship at the Alberta Bible College. He graduated from Olds College and attended the University of Alberta in Agriculture. He loved and took great pride in developing the land to become productive. Predeceased by his parents, Gus and Hildar Bergman; sister, Sybil; brothers, Meredith and John Bergman; and brother-in-law, Harry Abrahamson. He leaves to mourn his wife, Gloria; daughter, Christina (Robert Donick) of Edmonton; son, Scott of Calgary; daughter, Yvonne Plante of Calgary; grandchildren, James Donick of Edmonton, Murray, Audrey and Erin Plante of Calgary; his sister, Deloris Abrahamson of Northridge, California; sister-in-law, Lillian Bergman of Edmonton; and many other close relatives. He will be missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Stettler Funeral Home, 4707 - 70 Street, Stettler, Alberta.
