GREENSBORO - Edgar A. Mills, Sr., 85, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at Moses Cone Extended Care.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, at Lakeview Memorial Park, with the Reverend Johnny Parrish officiating.
Mr. Mills was born in Guilford County, April 16, 1921, to Everett and Hattie Hicks Mills.
Mr. Mills was a member of Good Shepherd Mission. Edgar was a World War II veteran and achieved rank of Corporal in the Army Air Core. He was the owner of Mills Locksmith Service for 45 years. He was a brick mason for 52 years. Edgar was in a band where he played the guitar and sang. In later years, he played the organ and sang for his church where he was a very active member. Edgar was also an avid golfer were he won multiple Local Senior Tournaments. He was a volunteer Course Ranger at Bryan Park Golf Course. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Elsie Mae Edwards Mills.
Edgar is survived by his son, Edgar A. Mills, Jr. and wife, Norma; four grandchildren, Tony Mills, Tina Melton, Teresa Fulk and husband, Chris, and Tyrone Mills; five great-grandchildren, Brooks Linville, Chasity Linville, Logan Mills, Jordan Fulk, and Justin Fulk; and two great-great-grandchildren, Layla and Courtney.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the friends and family for the love, devotion, and support in his time of illness.

OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. JUST KNOW THAT EDGAR AND ELSIE ARE IN A MUCH BETTER PLACE AND THAT THEY ARE TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL. WE WILL ESPECIALLY MISS SEEING HIM AT THE CHURCH ON SUNDAY WHERE HE PLAYED THE ORGAN AND SANG ABOUT HIS LORD. IF THERE IS ANYTHING WE CAN DO PLEASE LET US KNOW.

Sorry to hear of the lost of Edger I know he will be missed greatly. He was a good man I enjoyed the talks we had I will miss him like I do Elsie God bless the family . You are in my prayers
