Edna Jacqueline Casey

E. Jacqueline "Jackie" Casey, a longtime resident of Winchester on the Severn, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning, Feb. 14, in Bowling Green, Ohio, after battling Parkinson's syndrome for many years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, a staunch Roman Catholic and the life of many parties.

One of six offspring of John Thomas "Jack" Wilson and Edna Cecelia Wilson, Jackie was born April 3, 1933, in Binghamton, New York. She graduated from Saint Patrick's Academy in Binghamton and Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She taught school in Binghamton, later worked in the administration at Anne Arundel Community College and served as a volunteer for Birthright of Annapolis.

In 1957, Jackie married Edward D. Casey. They lived in Binghamton and Morris County, New Jersey before moving to Annapolis in 1971 with their four children. Mr. Casey, the former executive editor of The Capital, died in 2008. She moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, several years ago.

Besides her husband and parents, Jackie was preceded in death by a son, Edward J. Casey of Crofton; two sisters, Rosemary Wilson of Binghamton and Katherine Dunbar of Barrington, Illinois; and a brother, John Wilson, of Worcester, Massachusetts.

She's survived by two sisters, Ann Sweeney of Binghamton and Lillian Wilson of Binghamton and Daytona Beach, Florida; three children, Dan Casey (Donna) of Roanoke, Virginia; Jeanne Titus (Phil) of Bowling Green, Ohio; and John Casey (Miranda) of Sacramento, California; 11 grandchildren: Caitlin Strayer (Ryan) of Pflugerville, Texas; Erin Casey and Zach Casey of Roanoke; Anna Casey of Reston, Virginia; Ben Titus (Jill) of Columbus, Ohio; Christy Thomson (Michael) of Paris, France; Shannon Titus of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kelly Titus of Nashville, Tennessee; Ethan Casey of Crofton; Stephanie Casey of Columbia; and Sam Casey of Sacramento; two great-grandsons, Brooks Titus and Abbott Titus of Columbus; and one great-granddaughter, Sadie Jacqueline Strayer of Pflugerville.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis.
