PEABODY — Mr. Edward J. Drolet, age 87, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Friday evening, Jan. 29, 2010 in Beverly Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Mason) Drolet.
Born in Lynn, Ed was the son of the late Arthur and Theresa (Comeau) Drolet. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, where he was a standout football player, and he also attended the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 and served during World War II. He was a member of the 128th Gun Battalion and served during the Battle of Normandy. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, Ed worked as a salesman for over 30 years retiring from the Quasar Company. He was a devoted husband and father and family was his life. He loved animals, playing cribbage, and was a passionate Patriots and Red Sox fan.
He leaves his children, Robin Lavoie of Peabody, Dana Drolet and his wife Pamela of Peabody, Mason Drolet and his wife Pamela of Kissimmee, Fla., Derek Drolet and his wife Donna of Somersworth, N.H. and Rory Drolet of Peabody. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur A. Drolet Jr. and Ann Babcock.
ARRANGEMENTS: Ed's Funeral will be held from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn on Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann's Church, Peabody at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Gifts in Ed's name may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
