Dear Marcia, How shcked Doug and I are to hear that Eddie has passed away. We remember sitting behind you at Jack Robinson's funeral. You had returned from Floriday, and sitting in the back of the sanctuary, you greeted just about everyone who left the sanctuary. We remember thinking how well you both looked. That is the way we will remember Eddie. Please know that our hearts ache for you and know that you are feeling such great pain. We all wish we could take some of that pain away. Please know we are thinking of you in Florida. We can visualize the two of you sitting in the back of KUC each Sunday. We will ask Bill E. to send us his words so that we feel part of Eddie's service. Love to you and your family. Judy and Doug Petrie

The name was legendary, but despite 37 years as a competitor, I had never met Ed Hines until he bought Moser Lumber in 1996. I was privileged to know him and work for him for the next six years, and he maintained our friendship even after I retired to Florida. Ed was the consummate, principled business man and a great family man. His loss will be felt far and wide, and the family's grief will be shared by many.

A truly fine and special man, who combined absolute integrity while remaining genuinely humble. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him.
I was a long time employee of Hines Lumber, and always had the utmost respect for him.
May he rest in peace.
P.S. Ed, if the Cubs ever win one, it's dedicated to you.

To the Edward Hines family we offer our sincere condolences. Michael Fleming Sr. and Jr. had the pleasure of knowing and working with Edward Hines. In 1957 I remember my father coming home from Northside Branch and talking fondly about “young” Eddie Hines. Many years later Ed was a pallbearer for my father. I was very grateful to have had the pleasure of having lunch with Ed a few years ago. I know my father would have been very pleased.
On behalf of Michael Fleming Sr. and Mae Fleming.
