Arlington - Edward Anthony Honkomp (Ed) passed from this world on January 20, 2025; he was 95 years old. Ed was born on January 3, 1930 to Gerhard Bernard Honkomp and Mary Louise McIntyre Honkomp in Wichita Falls, Texas. Ed will be remembered most for his humor. He retained his humorous wit to the end of his life.

Ed served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a mechanic for the U.S. Army Special Services attached to the 86th Engineer Searchlight Company, C. Upon discharge from the military, Ed was employed by Texas Electric Service Company (predecessor to Oncor Electric Delivery Company) as a High Voltage Electrical Mechanic in its Transmission division. Ed went to welding school at night, obtaining a skill that proved useful in his own business, Ornamental Iron & Welding in the 1970's.

Ed and Mary Margaret Jacobi were married at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Punkin Center, Texas on April 24, 1954. The couple enjoyed dancing with the Road Runners Square Dance Club in Wichita Falls. Ed served as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 13 sponsored by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the same Troop in which he earned Eagle Scout in his youth.

After retirement Ed and Mary traveled extensively in their towable RVs finally settling down near Cloudcroft, New Mexico where they made numerous lifelong friends. In New Mexico Ed began his woodworking hobby, creating several wood projects for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cloudcroft.

After Mary passed in 2008, Ed moved to Arlington, Texas to be closer to his sons and their families. In Arlington he served as a volunteer at Arlington Memorial Hospital for five years. He also joined a local group of Widowed Persons Services in which he met Suzy Flynn, the second love of his life. Ed and Suzy sailed on several cruises including to Hawaii and through the Panama Canal. They also enjoyed dancing weekly to country and western music.

Ed is survived by his special friend, Suzy Flynn, his sons and their spouses, Michael (Nancy), Stephen (Jeanette) and Daniel (Beverly), his grandchildren Heather Hancock (Rob), Ryan Honkomp (Michelle), Charley Honkomp (Mario), Brittney Honkomp and Cody Honkomp, and great grandchildren Landon Brewer, Samual Hancock, Austin Hancock and Amelia Honkomp.
