Eileen LEHNE Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14, 2016.
Eileen Lehne
November 11, 1929 - November 10, 2016
Eileen Lehne, originally of Hanley, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home one day before her 87th birthday on November 10, 2016. She is survived by her two loving sons and daughters-in-law Jeff (Judy) of Saskatoon and Terry (Lori) residing in Ontario. Mom was predeceased by her wonderful parents Elsie and Norman Beaumont and her late husband of 49 years, Victor Lehne. Mom grew up on the farm in Hanley with her brothers Wes (Fern) and Allen (Eleanor) and sister Gloria (Gord Armstrong). Mom and Dad were married in Hanley and moved to Saskatoon in 1949. Mom worked for several years at Schoen Jewellers, but her true joy was in serving many patients over the years at the medical practices of Drs. Hathaway, Kavanagh, Wheaton and Treen. Mom always gave time to others. She was very involved in Bethel Church UCW putting on countless fall suppers and events. She also treasured her time at Eastern Star, holding all offices of the executive including Worthy Matron. Until she was no longer able, Mom spent many hours tending her garden and visiting friends and seniors. She loved her many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends, who benefited from her kindness. She loved a good story and laughed heartily at them when we all got together. Our family wishes to extend gratitude for the special care Dr. Debra Brodie provided to Mom for many years and also to the staff of Saskatoon Convalescent Home for their recent care and compassionate support. Funeral service will be held at the Hanley United Church on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Appledore officiating, followed by the Interment at the Hanley Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are entrusted to the SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME, 306-244-5577.

Jeff & Terry. I've been thinking of your Mom so often over the years and stumbled across this tribute this morning. Your Mom and mine (Rita Leibel) were the best of friends for many years and I hold very special memories of family visits during our trips back to Saskatchewan. Those two could laugh and tell stories well into the night. I'm sure they are doing that again now.

Terry & Jeff Dr. Wheaton & Dr. Hathway were our family physicians so on top of the various ball fields I saw your Mom a lot growing up. She was kind and gentle and her poise and grace was profound. She had a calming and reassuring influence on all that had the pleasure to meet her, even Doc Wheaton. Ward Marlatte

We were sorry to hear that your mother had passed away. Eileen always came bearing homemade cookies to our three grandsons birthdays, she was like another gramma to them. We enjoyed these times with her, she was a lovely lady.

Jeff and Judy, I am so truly sorry to hear we have lost Eileen. She was a lovely, lovely woman and I am so happy to have had her in my life. She was witty and straight forward and always so nice. I am away, but if I was home I would be there on Tuesday. My thoughts will be....

EIleen Lehne is fondly remember by the FIndlay Family who were neighbors of the Lehnes for many years. Garry Findlay and Terry Lehne were inseparable as friends when they were young and Garry suggested Eileen was like a second mom, given the fact she bandaged Garry and Terry up on numerous occasions and kept them fed so they could continue their youthful exploration of life. On behalf of Harry and Theresa Findlay, Alan, Elaine and Harry James our condolences to the Lehne Family.

Regards,
Garry Findlay
