Eileen Siegel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2024.
Lifelong philanthropist, social legend, golfer EILEEN MARSHA SIEGEL (nee KERBEL) of Boca Raton, Florida passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024 from complications from a decade long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born September 20th, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, she is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Steve I. Siegel of Boca Raton, Florida; her brother Donald Kerbel (Norine); her children Jamye Stern (Steven), Andy Siegel (Wendy); and, her grandchildren Sydney, Max, Zoe, Madison, Joey, and Dylan. She is predeceased by her parents DeNiece Sherman (nee Selko) and Albert Kerbel and her sister Barbara Caplan.

Those who knew her will remember her as the life of the party, always lighting up every room she entered. Eileen spent her life supporting local charities and dedicated her time volunteering at numerous charities. Eileen used her talent to make custom donation cards, purchase clothing and toys for the underserved; and, tirelessly worked to raise money for causes near to her heart. Through sickness and health, she shared a love story only found in romance novels and movies with her husband Steve. They spent years traveling around the world and playing thousands of rounds of golf. An accomplished golfer, Eileen scored multiple hole-in-ones, much to the amusement of her friends and family.

After surviving breast cancer at a young age, she and Steve moved from Pikesville, Maryland to make Boca Raton, Florida their forever home. Until she could not any longer, she hosted life-long friends and family at their home in Boca West.

She lived life to the fullest, loved her family and friends without condition, and will be dearly missed by all. The funeral will be private followed by a memorial with close friends to be announced later. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.

I remember when I first met my future mother-in-law. I volunteered to pick her up at the airport to take her to dinner. She said, pick someplace where she would not know anyone - otherwise, we would be bombarded by people welcoming her back to town. I picked a small neighborhood place in Federal Hill, many miles from her home. As you may have guessed, we walked in and the first three people at the bar got up to hug her. She would call for a reservation in almost any popular restaurant and when they would say there are no reservations left, she would say, "It is Eileen Siegel, you know me. When I walk in you will remember me." And, they always remembered her. Although her blazing light and memory was dimmed by Alzheimer's, our memory of her energy, smile, and morning vacuum cleaner has not! Rest in peace, although I am sure you will not get any rest for at least the first few days due to the number of parties you will be invited to!! Love, Steven
