Eldon Heaton Obituary
Born on June 26, 1940, in Darlington, Missouri, Eldon was raised in a tight-knit farming family that instilled in him strong values and a deep appreciation for hard work. He was the youngest of four siblings, with two older brothers, Oren and Leonard, and an older sister, Twila. After graduating high school, Eldon attended the University of Missouri and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1962.
During his early career, Eldon travelled the world as an engineer, working for Morrison-Knudson in Australia, and for General Electric in Jamaica, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Egypt. During this time, he met and fell in love with Andrea, who he married and traveled with for several years before returning to the United States. Eldon continued working in the engineering and energy sectors until the time of his death, retiring from W.W. Williams a few days before his passing.
Eldon was a devoted husband and celebrated 50 years of marriage to Andrea in December 2024. He was a loving father to their daughter, Melissa. He was a faithful Christian, as well as an avid golfer, fisherman and traveler; however, his greatest joy came from his role of "Papa" to his grandchildren. Eldon's life will be remembered for his intellect, wit, work ethic and devotion to family.
Predeceased by his parents, Orville Heaton and Evelyn Hammond Schwebach, as well as his brothers Oren and Leonard Heaton and sister Twila Wideman, Eldon leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Andrea Heaton; daughter, Melissa Deason; son-in-law, Stephen Deason; grandchildren Laine and Dax Deason; and several nieces and nephews.
A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, 4500 Jones Bridge Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eldon's memory to Simpsonwood United Methodist Church at www.simpsonwoodumc.org/donate.
