Eleanor Louise Williams Loose

Eleanor Louise Williams Loose passed away on December 14, 2024, in Houston, Texas, after a brief illness.

Eleanor was born on October 8, 1930 to Emilie Judd (Crocker) and Carl Stuart Williams. On August 2, 1952, she married the love of her life, Harry Walter Loose. Over the next 68 years, they raised two sons and two daughters and were blessed with six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Prior to her marriage to Harry, Eleanor graduated Woodbury High School in 1948. She attended the University of Delaware and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education. Eleanor led a very full and rich life surrounded by a great family and many good friends. With Harry, they raised their children in Delaware before moving to Houston in the early 1970s. She was able to see them graduate from college, get married, and lead successful, happy lives. After raising her children, she taught preschool and after school art enrichment classes at Pines Presbyterian Church Preschool. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and later on, her great grandchildren.

Art was always Eleanor's passion. Through her many paintings and drawings, she was able to eloquently express her thoughts, loves and her faith. The stained glass windows and the six art canvases in the choir room all at Pines Presbyterian Church were done out of her love for Christ and her Church and gave her a special feeling of joy. Eleanor was baptized in the Episcopal Church and attended Hanover Presbyterian Church in Delaware. In Houston, she was a faithful member of Pines Presbyterian Church for over 52 years where she was ordained as an elder and a Stephen Minister. Eleanor was also in charge of getting the Columbarium designed and built at Pines Presbyterian Church.

Eleanor continued with her art, painting and drawing for friends and family, well into her 90s. She led an art group at Parkway Place. Every year, she created an original art piece for her Christmas card and insisted they were printed to perfection, often to the frustration of her printer. These cards have been one of the highlights of her many friends and relatives Christmas' over the years. Outside of her art, Eleanor was an integral part of the Parkway Place community for many years, participating in numerous activities such as bible study, the writing group, art group and volunteering to welcome new residents and make them feel at home.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Emilie Williams, and her husband, Harry Walter Loose. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Stuart, Kingsley and Glenn Williams and daughter-in-law Mary Beth Maddox.

Eleanor leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Kenneth Harry Loose and his wife Laura, Diane Eleanor Dickey and her husband Douglas, David Carl Loose and Elizabeth Miller, and Kathleen Ann Dean and her husband David. Eleanor is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary Loose, Timothy and Elizabeth Loose and their mother Denise, Sarah (Dean) McCowan and Nathan Dean as well as great grandchildren, Violet, Harley and Shepherd.

The family would like to thank all those who assisted her.

Contributions in Eleanor's memory can be made to Pines Presbyterian Church (www.pinespc.org), 12751 Kimberley Lane, Houston, Texas 77024, or to a charity of your choice.

Service and inurnment arrangements are pending.

One of the most sincere friends I ever had. What a Christian Jewel she was, and it showed in everything she did. She will be missed, but welcomed once again with Harry in our heavenly home. Prayers to the family and friends she left behind. Eleanor, a true blessing.

Oh how we all will miss her until we meet again. I was lucky to be her friend...so generous, loving and wise.

I am saddened that another one of the earthly saints who helped to create the church family I love has gone to her eternal home. I am among the many who will miss her.

On the other hand, I am so thankful that she was active in her special forms of ministry for the vast majority of the 94+ years she lived on this earth. And I am deriving pleasure as I envision the countless reunions which are taking place in heaven with Harry and other family members and countless friends.

Every time I greet at Pines, I think of Harry's devotion to and effectiveness in doing that task. And every time I walk into the sanctuary and look at the stained glass windows, I think of Eleanor's artistic talents. So I give thanks that their spirit remains alive in my heart and for the countless ways they lovingly served others in need. Phil Wetz

Eleanor welcomed me to Parkway a little over a year ago. She became a dear and respected friend. I will miss her loving and gracious spirit. We had dinner together almost every night. She was a writer of poetry and prose and a talented artist. She was a blessing to my life.
