Elizabeth Hubbard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1, 2017.
Elizabeth Ruth Hubbard, Scranton, died Thursday at home. Her husband of 39 years was Rollin B. Hubbard, who died in 2009.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nelson and Magdalene Gowell Ramont. Affectionately known to all who knew her as "Liz," she was beloved to her family as well as countless friends and acquaintances.

Liz had previously resided in South Seaside Park, N.J., as well as Moosic Lakes before returning to Scranton. Like her family, Liz was always interested in politics and was a regular attendant at city council meetings.

Surviving are her son, Daniel B. Hubbard, Scranton; daughter, Gillian E. Hubbard, Mertztown; son-in-law, Timothy J. Brennan, Mertztown; and grandchildren, Lauren E. Brennan and Maxwell S. Brennan, both of Mertztown; and Bryce A. Onofrey, Scranton.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gustave Ramont and Nelson Ramont Jr.; and her sister, Caroline DeSaules.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Joseph J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 329 W. Market St., Scranton, with the Rev. Marge Allegeire officiating. Friends may call from 1 until the time of service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

I'm saddened by the passing of Liz. She was a good friend, intelligent woman and had a great personality. She was always good for a laugh, and we had many times discussing politics, and attending rallies for candidates. You could always count on Liz being at the fund raisers for her favorite candidates. She was so proud of her children and bragged about them all the time. They were very close. You will be missed by a great many people and I hope you have found peace.
