Elizabeth Killingsworth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 4, 2018.
Elizabeth "Liz" Gibson Killingsworth, 70, died on Friday, November 2 in New York, New York. She was born May 13, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York to Robert Blake Killingsworth, Sr. and Margaret McCaughrin Killingsworth. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 23 years, Paul Girard Ouellette.

She spent most of her formative years in New Canaan, Connecticut, and graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1969 with a Bachelor's Degree in English and in 1971 with a Master's in Linguistics. She was a partner in executive search firm E.J. Lance Management until her retirement in 2013. She lived in the same brownstone on West 68th Street for over forty years, where she served a long tenure as president of the co-op board. She was a frequent presence at Malachy's bar on 72nd Street, where she often gathered with friends from the neighborhood. As her husband Paul was a stagehand at the Metropolitan Opera and a member of the Theatrical Stage Employees union, she also had many friends from IATSE Local One. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed traveling, both abroad and closer to home. Having kept in touch with extended family and friends from all stages of her life, she is lovingly remembered by many elsewhere in the U.S., in Rome and in the U.K.

She is survived by her sister Margaret Kay Killingsworth and her brother Robert Blake Killingsworth, Jr.; sister-in-law Yolanda Gonzalez and nieces Olivia and Silvia Killingsworth; stepdaughter Carolyn Griffenkranz; grandchildren Amy, Samantha, Ryan, Thomas Jeffrey (TJ) and his wife Kristina, and Sean Griffenkranz.

A service will be held on November 8, 2018 at Riverside Memorial Chapel at 6 p.m. As Liz was very fond of reading, donations may be sent in her memory to Literacy, Inc or LINC. Since a strong literacy foundation is crucial to success in school and beyond, LINC's mission is to engage families and community members to support young readers in high need neighborhoods. https://www.nycharities.org/give/donate.aspx?cc=1171
