Elizabeth Yoder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2024.
Elizabeth Lucille "Betty" Yoder, née Valente, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Hilton Head, South Carolina, at the age of 82. Born on July 25, 1942, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, to Ernest and Thelma Earp Valente, Betty lived a life full of love, family, and cherished memories.

Betty graduated from high school in 1960 and attended Penn State University, where she met her beloved husband, Bob. Together, they built a life filled with shared passions and adventures. Betty worked as a legal secretary on Long Island, New York, before moving to Lewisburg, where she owned and operated a successful family insurance agency.

In 2016, Betty and Bob relocated to Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement years. A devoted wife, Betty was preceded in death by Bob in 2022. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jill Barrasse, and son-in-law, Joe. Her legacy continues through her granddaughter, Danielle Barrasse Stolakis, and husband, Chris. Betty is also survived by her sister, Tina Skiptunas, and niece, Heidi Tiffany.

Betty was an avid golfer, a member of both the Bucknell Golf Club and Deep Creek Golf Course. She found joy in music, crafts, and spending time with her family. A passionate reader, she delighted in crosswords and had a particular fondness for shopping, especially for shoes.

Betty's family extends their gratitude to Memory Matters for their support during her battle with Alzheimer's. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memory Matters, PO Box 22330, Hilton Head, SC 29925, or online at memorymatters.org. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Betty's remarkable life. Betty will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
