Ellen Hughes Kaper

Ellen Hughes Kaper, 82, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on February 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, sister and dedicated wife. Ellen was known for her positive attitude, unwavering faith, and her ability to bring joy to those around her.

Ellen was born on May 23, 1941, in Johnstown, PA, to Howard and Grace Hughes. She is now reunited with her husband Joe Kaper in the kingdom of God. Ellen is survived by her sisters Ginny Dorner (Bill) and Gail Reott (Jerry deceased), her children Sheila West, Brian West, and Mershon Viscusie (David), and her seven grandchildren: Aiden Fox, Dalton West, Leah West, Jessica Viscusie, Nicolas Viscusie, Owen Viscusie and Perry Viscusie.

She had a successful career in insurance, spanning 52 years, where she helped countless individuals secure essential services. Ellen was passionate about her work, always eager to assist others and further her professional development.

Ellen was devoted to her Catholic church and found comfort and strength in her faith. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and tending to her beautiful garden filled with roses. Ellen's generosity extended even in her passing as she donated her body to the Wake Forest School of Medicine.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Providence Hospice Care at 500 Lakeshore Pkwy, Rock Hill, SC 29730-4273. The Carolina Mortuary Service and Cremation is assisting with the arrangements, and there will not be any services.

Ellen Hughes Kaper will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
