McGILLIS, Ellen Cecilia (nee Stevens) December 18, 1906 - January 8, 2010 On January 8, 2010 Ellen passed away peacefully at the age of 103 with her family by her side. Ellen will be remembered by her son Ken (Irene) McGillis, son-in-law Allen Skakun, grandchildren Larry (Diane) McGillis, Leslie (Jeff) Whitney, Kelly (Marc) Mercier, Karen (Paul), Groleau, Mark (Silvia) Skakun, Tracy (Shawn) Ottenbreit and 14 great-grandchildren. Ellen was predeceased by her husband Angus, daughter Marion, and grandson Dale Skakun. Ellen lived a full and happy life surrounded by family and friends. A special thank-you to Debbie Sheehan and the 2 A-B staff at Dickensfield Extended Care Centre who provided wonderful care and friendship to Grandma over the past six years. Donations in memory of Ellen, may be made to unit 2 A-B Dickensfield, Capital Care Group or to West Sturgeon Aging in Place Foundation. Father Tesfu Kelati will celebrate a mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., St. Emerence Catholic Church in Rivere Qui Barre, Alberta. Sincere condolences Ken and Irene and all the families. We have lost a pillar of the community. "Ellen" was a leader, and our community of Ray, Riviere Qui Barre, Morinville areas and to whom all who knew her was proud to have her as a loyal friend. She was a wonderful woman full of joy, hope and a wonderful example of family life. All of you can be proud to have had her as a Mother and Grandmother and her friendship to the neighbors always so good to have. A life very well lived. The memories, the examples of good living, the makers of our area was something we all related too as we lived in the Ray, Riviere Qui Barre, Morinville areas.
