Elton Manuel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2023.
Elton Dean Manuel was born February 22, 1957 to Mary Louise and Rev. Milton Delbert Manuel in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the second born of three boys, and affectionately known as "Burt" with his brothers.

Elton accepted Christ at a young age. As a youth Elton excelled in academics as well as music and sports, playing trumpet in junior high, playing football as well as finding success as a champion on the wrestling mat before graduating from Emmerich Manual High School in 1976. Along with his physical strength, Elton had an equally strong work ethic which saw him serve in several leadership positions over the years including: Wishard Hospital, Target Warehouse, Aldi Foods, and Dollar Tree. He was an avid fitness enthusiast, and remained competitive in things like table tennis, weightlifting, tennis, and more. He loved motorcycles and you could see his infectious smile and personality when he rode his Suzuki Boulevard M109. He was an avid music fan, and you could often catch him listening to and singing songs from his youth.

Elton met the love of his life, Diana Smith, in November of 1999 on Yahoo Chat, and in 2009 moved from Indianapolis and made their home in Surprise, AZ. The two were joined in holy matrimony on May 21, 2010.

Of the many qualities he possessed, Elton was best known for his fierce resilience and quiet strength in the face of adversity. These are characteristics and qualities that he shared with all of his children. This was evermore present when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, which he fought valiantly for eight years.

On October 17, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, Elton Dean Manuel transitioned from this earthly service to receive his heavenly reward. Elton was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Milton Manuel.

Elton leaves to cherish his legacy and memory his loving wife, Diana, his mother, Mary Manuel, his brothers Ellery Manuel and Ethan Manuel (Patricia) of Indianapolis, his children: Taiwan Manuel, Robert Clark (Tinisha), Sara Tyson (Drew), Brandi Manuel, Carlotta Smith (Kat), Ebonee Manuel, Charles "Skimo" Smith (Amber), Brandon Manuel, Chasity Herber, Erica Manuel, and Julie Smith; eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of beloved family and friends.

There are so many memories I will always have of my big brother. One that I will share today is when he tore the white pages of the telephone book in half right in front of my face. Wow!!!! How I thought that was incredible.
Miss you dearly Elton.

My memory would be living next door to his mom since I was 19yrs old & being good friends with his brother Ellery who was a freshman in College, but most of all having Elton as a built-in esthetician for arching my eyebrows. He was the best & would sometime jokingly make me think he overdid my brows or accidentally shaved one off. I miss you all & hold the entire family close to my heart . Robbie, we are here for you Kim A., Aunt Mozzetta, Kiesha, Kaleaha, Shauna Smith & more..

What a loss. Elton was a wonderful spirit. He used to roll his eyes when I called him "old man". We kept in touch over the year's and we always had a joke. Your pain is over now baby. You have earned your wings......rest well luv......Tennessee. Casi

Elton had me caught once I heard that deep voice over Yahoo chat room. From then it was no turning back. We built a loving family that grew so much live for one anither. You could not asked for a better father that accepted my children as his own. He was patient and cared about everyone's feelings. He taught me the techniques of tennis before moving on our journey to Arizona where the sun shined every day that gave us morning and night to expertise our tennis matches. I even got good enough to beat him at least once which he was proud of me even though it blew his mind how well I picked up the game. With all the sunny weather we went thru several motorcycles before settling down with the suzuki boulevard m109. All I can say is that I have a great man blessed to me and my kids that found a great father in him and we still have carry his love in our hearts. My Angel of heaven by our sides.

I love you daddy. This doesn´t seem to get any easier with each day that passes, however I know you are still covering us in your love. I miss you so much. Each day I try to be a better me, a me that you would be even more proud of. Everything you have ever taught me, everything you have showed me, or told me, I put that to use and will live my life better because of you. Until we reunite again, you will be in my heart, and on my brain. The kids miss and love you also. Rest in Heaven Dad!
