Eric Monroe Davis, Sr. ROME, N.Y. - Homegoing Service for Mr. Eric Monroe Davis of New York, will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Turner Memorial AME Church, West Columbia, with interment to follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Mr. Davis transitioned from his earthly life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in Rome, NY. Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was the loving son of the late George and Mable Risher Davis who triumphantly escorted him to his Heavenly Home. Educated in the public schools of New York and South Carolina, he was a 1969 graduate of Ruffin High School in Ruffin, SC. Eric publically accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, using his gift of witty intellect, he served as a vessel teaching, counseling, encouraging and leading others to Christ. He attended Regents College, the University of the State of New York, where he obtained an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts. He furthered his education at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, a Master's of Liberal Arts Degree with a concentration in Psychology, and a Master's Degree in Theology and Philosophy graduating Magna Cum Laude and class valedictorian. Eric was also very outgoing. He loved his family and all people unconditionally. His extracurricular activities included membership in several civic organizations, serving as secretary of the Buffalo Valley Jaycees, and President of the Woodbourne Branch of the NAACP. Those cherishing fond memories are his son, Eric M. Davis, Jr. of Edgewater, NJ; daughter, Michelle Davis of Brooklyn, NY; his loving sister and caretaker, Julaunder Davis of Columbia, SC; his special granddaughter, Dr. Jessica Davis of Atlanta, GA; his nephew, Juvaun Davis of Columbia, SC; one grandnephew seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; uncle, Cecil (Cam) Risher of Brunswick, GA; aunt, Iola Risher of Yemassee, SC; his special cousins, Edith and Tami Saunders of Rochester, New York; a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
