Eric Meyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
Eric Meyer died at home in New Mexico on February 10, 2025, surrounded by his wife Pamela, his children, and extended family. He passed away peacefully and on his own terms after a long six-year battle with ALS.

Eric was born May 7, 1953, to Rauer and Evelyn Meyer in Falls Church, VA. He was raised in Northern Virginia and attended the College of Wooster in Ohio, where he graduated with honors in Economics. He had a long career in Symphony Orchestra Management and Development, working with multiple symphonies including the Tucson, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, San Diego, and New Mexico symphony orchestras.

Music was at the core of Eric's life from an early age as he grew up in a musical family. Eric played the trombone through high school and college and sang in various musical productions as well as in various choirs including the Wooster Chorus. He met his future wife, Pamela, at Wooster, where they shared a love of classical and symphonic music. They also played together in the Wooster Symphony Orchestra. Pamela, herself an accomplished oboist and English horn player, found much joy in attending live symphony performances together with Eric throughout their 48-year marriage.

Eric played collegiate soccer and continued playing over the years, most recently in the Santa Fe Sunday Soccer League. He loved seeing New Mexico and Colorado on his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamela, son Andrew Meyer (Elizabeth), daughter Bronwyn Larsen (Timothy), grandchildren Henry, John, and Georgia Meyer, and Brooke and Tatum Larsen. Eric is also survived by his siblings Carolyn, Rauer, Viveca, and Doug and their families.

Eric will be remembered for his never-failing wit, passionate love of orchestral and choral classical music, and his exceptional poker-playing skills as a celebrated member of a Friday Night Poker/Cigar Aficionado group.

If you wish to donate in Eric's honor, please make a contribution to the ALS New Mexico Association.

Thank you Eric for being a great mentor. You taught me how to enjoy wine properly, play poker, and most importantly to appreciate the little things in life. You will be missed, but I know you will be watching over us.
