Eric Richard Ott, age 51, of Randolph, passed away at home with family by his side on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born July 27, 1971 to Donald and Mary (Feak) Ott. Eric was joined in marriage to Elizabeth McAusland in December of 2008.
He and Elizabeth enjoyed attending Josh Groban concerts together and bowling. He was a father who took great delight in the two children that God gifted to their marriage and was incredibly proud of them. He loved to spend time with them, taking them swimming as often as possible at the community pool. He also enjoyed when his daughter Celia would play piano for him. His favorite song at Christmas was Silent Night.
Eric will be remembered for many things, including his infectious laugh, highly analytical mind, and his hardworking spirit. He was always willing to lend a hand and share his thoughts. He greatly enjoyed and thrived in his work as a Master Electrician. Mostly recently he worked for EK in Fall River. He will be remembered by his sweet daughter for his humility.
Not everyone has the opportunity to know their end is near. When faced with the hard news that his time was short he pressed forward without anger or bitterness. Having put his faith in Christ, Eric was not fearful of what death would bring. While he will be missed and mourned by those left behind, we do not grieve as those who have no hope. We believe, as Eric did in his final days the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:14.
"For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him."
Eric is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Celia; son, Ezra; his mother, Mary Ott; his parents-in-law, David and Rebecca McAusland; sisters, Lisa (Bruce) Wanish, and Cyndi (Tim) Roberts; sister-in-law Denise (Tim) Conley; brother-in-law Josh (Meg) McAusland; brother-in-law Jake (Kris) McAusland; his grandmother-in-law Doris McAusland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his father Donald Ott; and his brother David Ott.
A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Bible Fellowship, 910 Femrite Dr. Monona, at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 with a meal to follow.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family at the service or in advance of the service and after the service at https://www.givesendgo.com/lovefortheotts
