Ernestine Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 20, 2025.
Ernestine Moore (née Hodge), a loving mother and cherished member of her family, passed away on March 29, 2003, in San Jose, California, at the age of 65.

Born on February 13, 1938, in Lubbock, Texas, Ernestine was the daughter of Buster Hodge and Beatrice Hodge (born Hancock) and the granddaughter of Hattie Hancock. She grew up surrounded by a large and close-knit family that shaped her early years and remained central throughout her life.

Ernestine Hodge married Herbert S. Moore Sr. of Mobile Alabama and became a devoted mother to her children: Herbert S. Moore, Jr., Larry Moore, Terry Moore, Ronnie DePriest, Donnie Moore, and Eric Moore. Her family extended to her daughters-in-law and grandchildren. Her passing denied her the ability to share a special bond with her daughter-in-law Tabitha Moore and take great pride in her grandchildren: Korecca Moore, Sterling Moore, Marlissia Moore, Dominique Moore, and Aris Moore. Her legacy continued through her great-grandchildren: Kai'Yonna Moore, Devon Moore, Natalia Montgomery, Mila McCullough, and Myles McCullough.

She is remembered fondly by her surviving sisters Ruby Reid and Nancy Ruth Hodge. Ernestine also held dear the memory of her siblings who preceded her in death: Roscoe Hodge, Odell Hodge, Gladys Hodge, Sonny Hodge, as well as her two siblings who passed subsequent to her death, Jack Hodge and Verda Hodge.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
