Ethan Cole Peterson, 19, of Westlake passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Ethan was born in Lake Charles and was raised and lived all of his life in Westlake. He was a 2018 graduate of Westlake High School. Following graduation, he attended LSU before coming back home to attend Sowela Technical Institute.

Ethan with his great hair, beautiful smile, fantastic wardrobe, and awesome personality was a shining star, who brightened the world around him.   Everyone who knew him, loved him, and those who didn’t know him, certainly knew of him.

Ethan loved his family and friends with a humble, selfless devotion, and no one was ever a stranger. There aren’t enough words or room in this newspaper to explain who he was, how great he was, how big of a person he was or how big of an impact he made on everyone’s lives. He will always be the coolest and best person you would ever want to meet.

His mom and I just pray that everyone remembers our sweet and beautiful boy full of life, love, and happiness. We ask everyone to carry him with them on all their adventures and journeys for the rest of their lives. Ethan will never be forgotten and will be forever loved.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Allison Galbreath; his father, Derek Peterson; brother, Evan Reeves (Madaeline LaCombe); sister, Madalyn Peterson; nephew, William Reeves; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Charles Galbreath and of Westlake; paternal grandparents, Lori Peterson of Westlake and Dale and Rose Peterson of Rosepine; paternal great grandmother, Ruth Peterson of Rosepine; and extended family, Michael, Caleb, Christopher, Catherine, Chase, and Breanna Armentor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Waters Edge Church. Pastor Tony Bourque will officiate. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake at a later date. Visitation will be held in the church on Saturday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.

Allison, Derek, Evan, and Maddie...We are so deeply saddened by the loss of Ethan. He touched our lives in such a profound way. He had a million dollar smile that could instantly light a room. Every year for Christmas or a birthday he would think long and hard on his gift for Baeleigh. Whether it was a dry cake mix and gas-x. Or a full size poster of him with his baseball jersey open, airbrushed abs and all. We always looked forward to what he'd come up with next. When he was around we were never short on laughs. Most of our family lives in Florida and even so far away they have been affected by the loss of the snazziest kid we've ever known. We loved him like he was our own. The world already seems darker without him. Rest in Peace our sweet EP.

Love you Petey! I will never forget any of "my guys", and Petey was one of them. Great kid, great competitor, great teammate, was a joy to be around. And yes, the hair, who can ever forget the hair :-) Just a handsome, intelligent, God fearing all around great kid.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, his family, friends, supporters. I am deeply saddened by his loss, but when I remember him it will always make me smile recalling our times we shared together, some of our conversations during my visits to the mound, the games/practices, the road trips, we had a lot of fun with that group!

Here for you in any capacity. God Bless!

Dave and Carter Quinn and family.

I have never met anyone who lit up a room the way Ethan did. He never failed to make everyone around him laugh. Even those who were not close to him, knew how sweet of a soul he was. I am honored to have known Ethan and, he will never leave the hearts of those he touched. Endless love and prayers to everyone.

We were lucky enough to know EP. He lit up every room and always kept us laughing every time he was around. He always showed up with the rest of the gang on Sushi Nights. And he was always so respectful and always said thanks for having me when he would leave. We will definitely miss his beautiful smile and sweet soul. We love you EP!
