SPRINGFIELD, IL – F. Earlene Miller, 85, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022, at
Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she
passed.
There are no lessons about ‘Being a great Mother' we can only do our best and hope
that you do it great. Our mother certainly got an A ++ in this and was a loving mother of
five. Our mother was caring, supportive, and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother,
and friend. Yet she was never one to show a sign of weakness, always witty, gracious,
a jokester and very thoughtful. She was one of a kind and will forever be missed.
She was born August 21, 1937, to Earl and Frances (King) Turner. She married Carl
Otto Miller on September 27, 1958, at Bates Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Carl; son, Tom Miller; sister, Mary Ann Turner; sister-in-law,
Linda Turner; and nephews, Michael, and Paul.
Earlene was formerly employed by Franklin Life and later JC Penney. She enjoyed
horses, quilting, putting puzzles together with friends, doing crossword books and
listening to country music.
She is survived by her children, Carlene Miller, Fred (Stacy) Miller, Tami (John)
Ferguson, and Trent Miller (Tom Burkett); eight grandchildren, Josh Miller, Raylene
Bradley, Dale Ferguson, Steven Miller, Brooke Miller, Breanna Bradley, Austin Miller
and Shiann Ferguson; three great-grandchildren, Benton Ferguson, Xavier Aldridge and
Josie Miller; brothers, James (Carol) Turner and Charles Turner; as well as many
nieces, nephews.
Per Earlene’s wishes, no services will be held.

Earlene was witty, friendly with those she hardly knew, and honest. What an honor to know her for the short time I did at JCP. My prayers are with the family.

I worked with Earlene at JCP and she was always a bright spot when ever you saw her. I remember her most for her love of her family, dear friends and of course horses. I had both of my children while working with her and Earlene was always encouraging. I’ll never forget her; to all of her family I’m so sorry to each and every one of you for your loss of this truly amazing woman.

My deepest condolences to the entire family.
I worked many years with Earlene, until her retirement from JCPenney.
My favorite thing she would say was in response to how are you doing? "Hanging tough" was always her answer.
God's blessings to each of you
