MIDDLETON — Filomena C. "Phyllis" (Scuzzarella) Miano, of Middleton, formerly of Lynn, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 in a local nursing home, after a lengthy illness. She was the former wife of the late Joseph Miano, and daughter of the late Inatius and Angelina (Amorella) Scuzzarella.
Known by her friends as Phyllis, she was born April 16, 1929 in Boston. She grew up in the North End of Boston before moving to Somerville, Revere and then Lynn. She also lived many years in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Phyllis was a graduate of Revere High School and worked as a seamstress for many years before entering a career in insurance and real estate. A volunteer at Herrick House Assisted Living in Beverly, she enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading and going to the movies.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne Curtis of Peabody, son Joseph Miano of Dover, N.H.; sister Angela Page of Middleton; brothers, Joseph Scuzzarella of Somerville, Dante Scuzzarella of Lynn and Dino Scuzzarella of Revere; grandchild Jana Dixon of New York; great grandchild Matthew Moran; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nunzio, Frank and Victor Scuzzarella, and Grace DeBenedetto.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held in the Solimine, Landergan & Richardson Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Girl's Inc., 88 Broad St., Lynn, MA 01902.
