Florence Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 6, 2025.
Edgewater Park - Florence "Aunt Sissy" Miller passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, at Samaritan Hospice, Virtua Hospital, Mt. Holly, NJ. She was 96. Born in Riverside, NJ on May 1, 1929, she spent the entirety of her life in Riverside, Delanco and Edgewater Park. She was predeceased by her father, Harry Miller, mother, Mary (Murphy) Miller, brother, John Miller and sister, Dolores (Miller) McDougall. She is survived by six nieces and nephews, 19 grands and a growing number of great-grands.

Florence attended Delanco Schools and Palmyra High School. She followed her father to the Riverside Metal Company as a secretary and then to Charles Gamble Industries in Delanco as office manager. She was an avid traveler, spending her vacations discovering and enjoying other parts of the world and their people.

She was always involved in the family activities of her nieces and nephews. Whenever she was invited to participate in such events, her immediate answer was always, "Just let me grab my pocketbook." - designer, of course. One of her very favorite leisure activities was anything having to do with the Jersey shore and the beach. Throughout her life, her dedication to her religious beliefs played a major role, including her affiliation with the SALT luncheons. For many years, she was a regular volunteer greeter at both Zurbrugg Memorial Hospital in Riverside and Rancocas Valley Hospital in Willingboro. Her strong family attachment was enriched by the treasured friendships that she shared with those in various senior citizens' clubs, prayer groups and card parties. The life-long friendships she developed with these dear women reflected the same depth and value as that of her own family. It is said that, for a person's life to have been worthwhile, the world must have changed because of her presence in it. It is certain that every single family member and dear friend can honestly say that this earth has become a better place because of her exceptional life.

As per her wishes, she has been cremated and her family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life in the near future, details to follow.
