FORT LARAMIE, Wyo. - Funeral services for Florence Eleanor Peterson, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday January 12, 2006 at the Fort Laramie Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert Frye officiating. Burial will follow in the Fort Laramie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., and briefly following the service at the church. Florence died at the Beverly Health Care Nursing Home of the Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday January 7, 2006. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home. Florence was born June 8, 1922 in Mitchell, Nebraska the daughter of Robert "Swede" and Agnes (Peterson) Hickox. She grew up and attended school there graduating Mitchell High School. She attended the Methodist Church in Mitchell as a youth. She married Robert Peterson on October 4, 1941 in Harrisburg, Nebraska. They lived in Guernsey, Wyoming for a short time before moving to the Fort Laramie area where she lived until she became ill. She then moved to the nursing home in Rapid City. Florence belonged to a craft club in Torrington. She enjoyed garage sales, plastic canvas, crocheting, and bead work. Florence is survived by five sons, Francis (Pete) Peterson and his wife Nancy of Rapid City, Robert "Butch" Peterson of Torrington, Danny Peterson and his wife Mary Jo of Arvada, Colorado, Jimmy Peterson and his wife Joyce of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Roger Peterson and his wife Pam of Manville, Wyoming; one daughter, Shirley Joy and her husband Frank of New Underwood, South Dakota; one brother, Melvin Hickox of Auburn, Washington; one sister Mable Warner of Gering, Nebraska; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter Eleanor Springer; three brothers, Charles, Don, and Ernest Hickox; one sister, Evelyn Schmidt; and one daughter-in-law.
