Floyette Waller

Floyette ‘Nonnie’ Waller was 97 years old when she passed away at Methodist Charlton Dallas on December 13, 2015. She was born in Memphis, TN on December 23, 1917 and was a graduate of Adamson High School in Dallas in 1936.

She married the love of her life William Leon ‘Lonnie’ Waller on February 16, 1937. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 16, 1987. In those 50 years they traveled the world and surrounded themselves with amazing friends.

Floyette worked as a hat machine operator with numerous companies for many years. She enjoyed playing golf, fishing, playing dominoes and loved to travel. She was a member of the Yanif Social Club and played in a bridge club as well, but later in life she found so much joy in her 84 group that played dominos every Friday night. She was also a faithful and active member of The Cedar Hill Church of Christ, until her recent illness.

Floyette is survived by her daughter Lonnette Horak and son-in-law Ron Horak, son Larry Waller and daughter-in-law Patti Waller; three grandchildren: Leeann Tietz, Tracee Feik and her husband JJ, Jennifer Stewart and her husband Grant; four great granddaughters: Nicole Tietz, Emily Tietz, Andi Feik, Madison Feik and two great grandsons Reid Stewart and Ryan Stewart; two nieces Sandra Sorrels, Sharon Douglas and their respective families, cousins, and a host of friends.

Floyette is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie and one sister Willise Franks and her husband Bill and their parents William and Floy "Mom" Holbrook.

Floyette, Lonnie and Lonnette started Floyette Originals in 1971 making millinery hats for several of the 26 hat companies in Dallas including an exclusive line for Neiman Marcus. Several years later Larry joined the company and they made the transition to drill team hats. Since then God has blessed the company as it has grown year after year.

Floyette loved to cook and was known for her delicious homemade dumplings. She was also designated by the family as the official ‘shrimp fryer’ at the annual family Christmas get togethers. Floyette also had a green thumb and had a garden for many years and later in life she grew gorgeous peonies. Most of all she loved God, family and of course, making hats.

Floyette’s kindness and love for life will be missed by all who knew her. Her family wishes to express their gratitude for your love, words of comfort and prayers. Your love and prayers have meant the world to them.
