Frances (Fran) Gwendoline Dodds, beloved wife of Mike Dodds, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the age of 67. Fran was born in England. She and her war bride mother arrived in Calgary to join her father who had been in the Canadian Army, when she was eighteen months old. Fran had a successful career as an accountant in the oil and gas industry. She qualified as a CGA in 1979, then worked at Hudson's Bay Oil & Gas, Norcen Energy and spent fifteen enjoyable years at Gas & Oil Accounting, before retiring in 2006. Fran was active in two clubs, Skyline Seniors Hiking and Antique Willy's Association, acting as Treasurer for both. She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, hiking, snowshoeing and other outdoor activities. Aside from her loving husband, Mike, Fran is survived by her two children, Richard and Robert Dodds of Calgary, her two beloved grandchildren, Zachary and Ryan Dodds of Calgary, her sister Donna Geekie of Dog Pound, AB; her mother Gwen Hatton of Cochrane; daughter- in-law Deletta Dodds of Calgary; brothers-in- law, Stewart Geekie, John Dodds, Jim Dodds, Bill Jones, Barry Fetherston and Rick Kozmanuik; sisters-in-law, Mary Fetherston, Valarie Kozmanuik, Darlene Dodds and Brenda Dodds; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by her father Donald Hatton in 1984. A Service of Remembrance will be held at LEYDEN'S Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Calgary, 920 - 7A Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2M 3J3 (Telephone 403- 284-5195, www.calgaryhospice.com), or to the Calgary Food Bank.
